Have you ever wondered how so many famous people maintain such a beautiful smile? Is it possible that each one of them anticipated their success and were able to achieve brilliant, perfectly straight and formed teeth? This mystery is often the result of porcelain veneers.
Porcelain veneers are thin casings of a ceramic material that are formed to look like the perfect tooth. They are bonded to the surface of your teeth, and immediately transform years of damage done through stains, chips, and wear and tear. Additionally, veneers can hide natural gaps between teeth, while smoothing the appearance of crooked or uneven teeth. Given their simplicity and ability to resolve numerous cosmetic issues, veneers have become one of the most popular choices for smile restoration.
The process begins with an evaluation of your needs and preferences. Once you and our team have identified the area to restore, a model of your new smile is created. You will have the opportunity to determine and modify the shape and proportion of your new veneers to create the perfect smile you desire. Once you have chosen your perfect smile, you will set a second appointment for the dentist to prepare your teeth for the placement and bonding of the veneers.
The second appointment involves the dentist reducing the thickness of your natural teeth to accommodate the addition of your permanent veneers. Your teeth will be reshaped to reduce their width by a half-millimeter to a full millimeter, depending on the density of your veneers. Temporary veneers are then attached while the permanent ones are sent to be precision crafted.
Once the permanent ones are delivered, you return for a third and final appointment. We will perform the last aesthetic adjustments to the veneers, as even the color shade of the bonding cement can alter and improve the final appearance of the veneer. We then apply a preparation solution to your natural teeth and the bonding agent to the veneers. A high-intensity light amplifies the hardening process, and your dream smile is complete.
The maintenance of veneers is essentially the same as natural teeth. Simply brushing and flossing like normal is the most important step you can take to ensure this amazing smile lasts for years to come.
